MISSION EXPERIENCE

Brenda's 1st short term mission trip, 1981 to the Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona, U.S.A. -- This trip we helped clean up and help with renovation of small buildings on the reservation; sewed & hung curtains, painted, cleaned up trash, other minor repairs to help make better living conditions.  Ministered & fellowshipped with our host missionaries.

Brenda's 1st short term mission trip, overseas, 2003 to Copan, Honduras.  This was a medical trip with a team of 17 people, adults & children.  1 Doctor, 1 RN, 1 LPN, 1 Physical Therapist, 1 EMT and the rest of the team participated, working alongside the medical professionals and were trained on the spot to aide in setting up a 'make shift' pharmacy, etc. [they did an awesome job]. We held clinic daily in the various villages and in the evenings we fellowshipped with the local Ministers and churches.  Our team worked alongside two host missionary families.  This mission was the dearest to my heart, it hurt deep to leave Honduras; I was never the same again, with this being my first encounter of a 3rd world country.

Short term mission trip in 2004, to NYC, NY - U.S.A. This trip was mostly geared to 'personal evangelism'  - included some street ministry; worked with a church in the financial district [worship, assisted in children's ministry]; worked with a church in Manhattan[clean-up work]  and took a subway train over to Madison, NJ and worked with their youth group one night.  The street ministry included: handing out free Newspapers in the Wallstreet area [along w/ tracts], handing out free Krispy Kreme doughnuts on the street [along w/tracts], handing out packages of candy/gum [along w/tracts] in Battery Park. [Ministering 1:1 as the Holy Spirit led us].  We also handed out church outreach flyers to various apartment buildings and did prayer walking. This evangelism team was made up of 5 people and we had a Christian business man host our team and we stayed at the Pace University.

Short term mission trip in 2005, to Berlin, Germany - this trip, we had a team of 14 adults and missionary Randy Dodd was our host and we worked alongside the missionaries there in Berlin.  We helped with renovation clean up work of a 200 year old building that a local East Berlin Church had plans to move into. [as a matter-of-fact, just this year, 2014, received a letter stating that the renovations are completed and the church body has moved into the building and all services are in operation].  The team also ministered, worshiped and fellowshipped with several local churches while there.  We participated in a missionary conference and we worked in the children's ministry, ministering to the  missionaries' children while the parents were involved in the conference.

This short term trip to the Dominican Republic is the 1st for Douglas & Brenda to go and work together.  There was 17 people on this team and we worked alongside our host missionaries; Rick & Barb Sucher & family.  We worked on construction of the Ministry center in Playa Laguna and worshipped each evening with the local Pastors and churches. We canvassed neighborhoods with flyers for local outreaches [seeking out 1:1 ministry], participated in women's conference.  It was this trip that we received the words, "ministry of the meek."

In Brenda's earlier years, she was involved in various church outreaches, visitation, evangelism.  As a married couple, we are currently involved in street ministry and local outreaches.
